Key Takeaways
- Tron booked $23.41M in 30-day revenue per Defillama, ahead of Ethereum’s $6.34M and Solana’s $3.4M.
- Tron holds about $94.5B of the $302B stablecoin supply, the base for its fee income.
- Tron’s 30-day revenue slipped 4.2% from the prior period, so the lead is wide but not growing.
The Scoreboard
Onchain analytics account Lookonchain flagged the ranking earlier today, noting that Tron currently sits at No. 1 among all chains on 24-hour, 7-day and 30-day revenue. The underlying Defillama revenue table shows how lopsided the board looks right now:
- Tron: $554,976 in 24 hours, $5.8 million in 7 days, $23.41 million in 30 days.
- Ethereum: $6.34 million in 30 days.
- Solana: $3.4 million in 30 days.
- Robinhood Chain: $2.88 million in 30 days.
- Base: $2.78 million in 30 days.
- Polygon: $2.27 million in 30 days.
Add BSC, arbitrum, hyperliquid L1 and avalanche to those five and the next nine chains come to roughly $21 million over the same 30 days. Tron beat all of them on its own by about $2.4 million. Over a full year, Defillama puts Tron’s revenue at around $340 million.
Where the Money Comes From
The short answer is dollars, specifically tokenized ones, as Tron carries about $94.5 billion in stablecoins, according to Defillama’s stablecoin tracker, out of a market of roughly $302 billion. Only ethereum, at about $144 billion, holds more.
Most of that balance is Tether’s USDT and a recent second-quarter Tron report put USDT on the network at just over $89 billion by the end of June, an all-time high and just over 47% of all USDT in circulation. The same report counted 3.5 million daily active users on average between April and June.
And, while ethereum hosts more stablecoin value, a large share of it is parked in decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols rather than moving. On Tron, the dollars mostly move through exchange withdrawals, remittances and merchant payments on the base chain, and the network charges for that activity in TRX.
Payments giants are circling the same flows with Bitcoin.com News reporting last week that Visa moved its stablecoin payments pilot into production, a reminder that the plumbing tron monetizes is becoming mainstream payments infrastructure.
The Catch in the Number
Revenue leadership is not the same as revenue growth and Tron’s 30-day total is down 4.2% from the previous 30 days, and its 24-hour figure dropped 12.4% day over day. Ethereum’s 30-day revenue, by contrast, is up 117% from the prior period, even though its last seven days fell sharply after an earlier spike.
The quarterly picture tells a similar story, with recent reports putting Tron’s Q2 protocol fees at $89 million, second only to Hyperliquid’s $199 million in that period. Hyperliquid’s exchange fees do not show up as “chain” revenue on Defillama, which is why it ranks ninth here despite its trading volume.
There is also the comparison problem given that Solana’s ecosystem earns heavily at the app layer rather than the base layer. Bitcoin.com News recently covered how Solana apps generated $193 million in 30 days. A chain revenue ranking captures what the network itself keeps, not everything its users spend.
