Worldcoin Iris Scanning Activity Begins in Metro Manila

Tools for Humanity, the developer of World, a blockchain project popularly known as Worldcoin, expressed its plans to roll out a verification tool with a pilot test set to happen in two cities within the National Capital Region.

  • The tool is called Orb, an open-source device that verifies a World App user as a unique human without knowing anything else about them. The verification can be done by scanning the user’s iris.
  • Once verified, the user will receive their World ID, a decentralized digital identity similar to a passport. According to World, it supports multiple types of human-exclusive verifications via proof-of-human credentials that allow users to prove they are human and unique.

The plan was presented during a local event by Tools for Humanity, which was attended by World enthusiasts and private entities, including the National Association of Data Protection Officers of the Philippines.

Iris Scanning Reaches Manila

Currently, there are Orbs located in San Juan, NCR, particularly Greenhills Shopping Center, so Filipinos can verify their WorldID.

This, and other future Orb locations in the Philippines, can be found on World’s website. Visit Here: https://world.org/find-orb?country=PH

An online post by Facebook User Jorjie A Zabal to the group “CryptoBasurero” suggests that the Orb is located on the second floor of Greenhills Shoppesville Mall and will operate until April 10, 2025, at 10 p.m.

  • Before going to Metro Manila, the iris scanning activity of World was first launched in the Bulacan province, particularly in the municipalities of Bulakan, Plaridel, Pandi, and Pulilan.
  • These places were not listed to the Orb location on World’s website; however, Tools for Humanity clarified to BitPinas that these activities are part of its “closed beta” operations in partnership with a local entity.
