Aerodrome and Velodrome Unite to Chase $120B in Trading Volume

Key Takeaways

Two Exchanges Become One Trading Powerhouse

Aerodrome controlled 58% of DEX trading on Base during the third quarter of 2026, while Velodrome captured 60% on OP Mainnet, according to figures supplied by the team in a release shared with Bitcoin.com News. Together, the platforms have distributed a reported $578 million to tokenholders.

Aerodrome also claims leadership in bitcoin-dollar trading and onchain foreign exchange activity. Its share of tokenized-stock trading across Ethereum and associated layer-two (L2) networks reportedly climbed from approximately 2% in early September to 57% by Oct. 10.

Aero Introduces Prediction-Based Liquidity Rewards

Aero’s new Predictive Allocation system allows participants to stake tokens and direct liquidity incentives toward markets they anticipate will generate the most trading revenue. Successful allocations earn proportional distributions, tying rewards to participants’ ability to forecast trading demand.

Additional infrastructure includes Metaswaps for cross-network transactions and Slipstream V3, which incorporates dynamic fees and mechanisms for capturing maximal extractable value (MEV).

No Venture Backing, No Token Sale

The project launches without venture capital backing or a token sale. Existing AERO and VELO tokens transition into the new AERO structure, while locked governance positions become sAERO.

Dromos Labs CEO Alex Cutler says 100% of exchange revenue will go to stakers, an arrangement that places the platform’s economic returns directly in the hands of participating tokenholders. The model’s long-term viability will depend on whether its incentive structure can maintain sufficient liquidity, competitive execution and consistent trading activity.

“Every market is coming onchain, and any institution that can be distilled into code will be. Their margin is our opportunity. Aerodrome and Velodrome won because the model works better for the people who use it,” said Cutler.

The Dromos Labs executive added:

“Aero takes that model to some of the biggest markets onchain, and 100% of the revenue it earns goes back to the people who stake AERO.”
